Bradley Garrett
Cultural geographer, author and urban explorer
Dr Bradley Garrett is an American cultural geographer, author and photographer known for exploring the places cities are built on but never show: sewers, disused Tube stations, half-built skyscrapers and Cold War bunkers. He began as an archaeologist in the Mojave Desert before a PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London embedded him with the city's urban explorers– fieldwork that produced Explore Everything: Place-Hacking the City and made headlines when his crew took the first photographs from the top of the unfinished Shard.
He has held academic posts at Oxford, Southampton, Sydney and University College Dublin, written five books including Bunker: Building for the End Times, and reported for The Guardian, The Atlantic and GQ, with appearances on 60 Minutes and The Joe Rogan Experience and a role in the documentary Underland. He is now writing Groundbreaking, a cultural history of tunnels, for St. Martin's Press.
